We have heard of Companies incorporating the online world, in particular targeting bloggers and also consumers in forums and social networking sites. Now, in the run up to the US presidential election, we’re seeing the political world targeting the digital natives. We can safely say that Barack Obama has definitely broken away from the political campaigning norm.

Obama is no longer a face you see on TV, but your online “friend”. By joining the online world through social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, he is not only targeting a younger audience but also has the power to influence current and prospect followers. He has managed to enter everyone’s life (but not in a creepy way) by using new targeting methods and not through standard “slip under the door” leafleting.

A website which rates the amount of influence twitter member have on their “friends” have rated Obama number one! I can’t wait to see how these new achievements will influence the political arena. And on the 4th November we’ll find out…
