Drinks brand Smirnoff refreshes it’s marketing strategy July 1, 2009

Rumour has it Smirnoff has finally realised that people drink their vodka for fun and not because they care about the ‘purity’ of their products.  They will be moving away from their previous focus on the quality and ingredients in the drink, to a campaign that engages their audience in a much more human way.

No one likes cheapo vodka but as a youth brand I would have thought they would have realised that in order to connect with this group they need to (responsibly) encourage fun.  But as they say – better late than never!

According to Brand Republic the first ad, to appear next week, shows a heap of revellers having an all night party in a forest.  As well as this, they will also stream content through their website and target communities on social networking and online media sites which will engage people using a ‘this is where…’ theme.
