….when simple examples underline the kind of changes that social media can bring.  I can remember sitting in a very early client: journalist interview (1993/94!), explaining that this internet thing could change the face of British politics when suddenly consumers (their voters) get a direct voice en masse.

So many plaudits should go to London Mayor Boris Johnson (or indeed the intern who – probably – is his ghost writer) for understanding this new medium demonstrated by his Twitter reactions last week.  Not only did ‘he’ spot the furore on his Twitter account about heating on buses being still on in the heatwave, but ‘Boris’ also then sorted the problem out pronto by contacting TFL.  All of which was reported on his Twitter feed.  I don’t think we even mind that we know that it is probably not Boris himself doing the tweeting.

Long live the simple changes that bring in the new world!  And here’s to cool buses in heatwaves too!
