If ever there was a question about the impact and value of social media within the UK audience, comScore have just obliterated them with their report into UK online usage last week.

In summary, the leader in online measurement has found that nearly half (29.4mil) of the UK population accessed a social networking site during the month of May. An outstanding number that could only have left the guys behind Facebook jumping for joy as they came out on top as the most visit social network in the UK,  with a  massive 81% of all social networkers visiting the site.

To put into perspective just how insane this figure is, the second and third place rankings went to Bebo and Windows Live Profile who have 29% and 20% of the social networking audience respectively.

The power and reach of Facebook is constantly changing and growing exponentially YoY, even more reason for brands to devise a dedicated strategy to tap into this social phenomenon, over and above starting a Facebook page and hoping for the best.
