The Guardian published a story on Sunday around the announcement that Thames Water (along with a bit help from GLA and TfL) are talking about plans to bring back water fountains to the capital in a bid to cut out the unnecessary use of plastics.

The first trials are to be installed at Hammersmith and Tower Bridge museum, which the public will be able to use for the small charge of 20p.  All proceeds from the fountains will then go to Waste Watch, a charity working to change the way people use natural resources.

Fingers crossed this trial proves successful and keep an eye out for the rollout to happen all across London in time for the 2012 Olympics. Dry throats all round for the £1.5bn-a-year bottled water industry!
